THE 7908 ASPEN SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL, returning to the Wheeler Opera House for its third year March 21 - 25, 2012, is featuring a new program this season: A six‐city search to find Colorado's finest songwriter.
Co‐produced by Songwriting Hall Of Fame member and one‐half of the most successful rock duo of all time, John Oates, and the City of Aspen's Wheeler Opera House, the 7908 ASPEN SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL brings together exceptional songwriting talent for five full days of performance and camaraderie in a low‐key festival setting where intimacy is the rule for both audience and players. "This year we're opening the experience to our Colorado songwriters as well," said Wheeler Executive Director Gram Slaton. "Six cities will each get to pick a finalist, who will come to Aspen for the first three days of the festival, performing in town and being reviewed by a confidential panel of judges, who will name the winner of the title of Colorado's Best Songwriter 2012. That person will get to stay on for the final two days of the festival, and perform at the opening of the final show of the festival. We'll also be including downloads of the finalists' songs in the 7908 Festival website, and the winner will get to have an additional two songs on the site. Plus all the finalists will get full festival passes and invitation to all after‐show parties and get‐togethers. For new or even proven Colorado talent, this can be the opportunity of a lifetime."
